This past week, we’ve been reflecting on Remembrance Day. 🌺 The residents have been busy painting poppies and writing their own messages and memories to accompany them. During our sessions, we’ve had thoughtful discussions, and one of our residents, aged 104, shared a touching story about her fiancé, who was sent to Burma during the war. She recalled how Vera Lynn performed for the troops while she, at 19 years old, was training to become a teacher.
In honor of Remembrance Day, the residents placed poppies on our white tree as a symbol of remembrance.
For our fresh flower arrangements this week, we chose white blooms, adding a red and purple flower to represent both the fallen and the animals that were involved in conflict. The residents love creating the flower vases for the home, and we were fortunate to have one of our residents help collect greenery to complete the arrangements. ❤️
It has been a meaningful week of remembrance, reflection, and creativity.
